*Helping uncover family medical history through biological relatives, without you requiring direct contact, if that is requested.
* Advising you on the best DNA test for your circumstances. In most cases for people who haven’t tested yet, the starting place is an AncestryDNA testing kit. Ancestry has the biggest database. It takes about 6-8 weeks to get your results online after sending off the saliva sample in their kit, after registering the kit online.
Once results are in, it is advised to download your raw DNA data file from AncestryDNA and upload it to MyHeritage, FTDNA (FamilyTreeDNA), LivingDNA and Gedmatch. There are instructions on the sites how to do this and it is very simple to do. This way you only pay full price for one DNA test. When doing it this way, you will only be charged a nominal fee of approximately £10 by the other DNA companies to have your results and DNA matches on their sites too and usually within about a week. So not having to wait up to 8 weeks, all over again with all the companies.
Having your results in all these places, widens the number of people you may find who match you. As though a lot of people test at AncestryDNA, some people might only test at one of the others and they could be a close match of yours that is being missed otherwise.
