How I Can Help You
I specialise in:
*Identifying very close genetic relatives, even though they haven’t taken a DNA test themselves, using genetic genealogy and modern research tools.
*Identifying birth parents, even if no names are known and no certificates can be found, using genetic genealogy and modern research tools.
*Finding birth siblings and other biological relatives including grandparents using DNA match analysis and genealogy, which is genetic genealogy. Also using modern research tools.
*Acting as an intermediary to contact genetic relatives, after searching for them using modern tools, if necessary. This includes finding people via non DNA research routes. I always act with care, empathy and sensitivity during any form of contact with people I have located. (Intermediary work is not an obligation. You can do the contact work yourself if you choose.)
*Helping uncover family medical history through biological relatives, without you requiring direct contact, if that is requested.
*Advising you on the best DNA test for your circumstances. In most cases for people who haven’t tested yet, the starting place is an AncestryDNA testing kit. Ancestry has the biggest database. It takes about 6-8 weeks to get your results online after sending off the saliva sample in their kit, after registering the kit online.
Once results are in, it is advised to download your raw DNA data file from AncestryDNA and upload it to MyHeritage, FTDNA (FamilyTreeDNA), LivingDNA and Gedmatch. There are instructions on the sites how to do this and it is very simple to do. This way you only pay full price for one DNA test. When doing it this way, you will only be charged a nominal fee of approximately £10 by the other DNA companies to have your results and DNA matches on their sites too and usually within about a week. So not having to wait up to 8 weeks, all over again with all the companies.
Having your results in all these places, widens the number of people you may find who match you. As though a lot of people test at AncestryDNA, some people might only test at one of the others and they could be a close match of yours that is being missed otherwise.

Whatever method is comfortable for you. If after the consultation, you would like me to do an initial 7 hours of DNA Results Match Analysis, which includes Leeds Method grouping, if applicable,the price is £85. This can go a bit over the 7 hrs with no extra cost and sometimes does.
After receiving feedback from the analysis, if you would like me to research your case (and I feel there is sufficient information to work with), I work in a 10 hour block of genetic genealogy research. The price is £180. This can go a few hours over with no extra cost and sometimes does.
I can also act as Intermediary in contacting a birth relative/s who I have researched using genetic genealogy/modern research tools, if you wish. This can also be after research via a non DNA route.
The price for the intermediary work is £85 (regardless of the potential number of digital contacts to be made within a reasonable timeframe and inclusive of any research tool costs and all postage costs for up to 30 letters written to individual people, (if required).
Please note: If more individual people need letters due to a more common name, then a custom price will be agreed with you. If the intermediary work is extending further than 3 weeks, then further costs will be discussed leading up to that depending on the custom nature of the work.
You can, if you prefer, take all the information and do all the contact work yourself. It is my experience that having a 3rd party to make that contact in a sensitive approach can be less of a shock for the person receiving the contact and can help to create a more positive response, although of course it can’t be guaranteed in every case no matter how gently it is done, sadly.

From there, I use genealogy (building family trees) to uncover connections and I also use modern research tools to help find potential genetic relatives.
