Kits take around 7-10 days to arrive to you, but you can pay for speeded up shipping. You can arrange for kits to come to your address, so that you can gift the kit in person to someone, or you can arrange for them to go to the address of the person you want to send it to.
You can give the kit in its box as a Christmas gift, for the recipient to do the test/register the kit, before sending it off. They will receive the DNA match results around 8 weeks after the kit has been posted back to Ancestry.
