I can also act as Intermediary in contacting a birth relative/s who I have researched using genetic genealogy/modern research tools, if you wish. This can also be after research via a non DNA route.
The price for the intermediary work is £140.00 (regardless of the potential number of digital contacts to be made within a reasonable timeframe of 2-3 weeks and inclusive of any research tool costs and all postage costs for up to 30 letters written to individual people, (if required).
Contact may be purely digital or it could be by letter. If so, the price is inclusive of multiple postage costs, if required, letter paper, envelopes and other research costs, and includes up to 30 initial letters to individual people if required. If more than 30 letters are required (due to more common names) then a custom price will be agreed with you.
Intermediary work may be contact with one person who is definitely identified or it may be a list of people and addresses, or people identified as a close relative of that person, if that person cannot be located, or it might be the case that they have passed away.
My contact is always sensitively done and based on my research. I will pass contact over to you once I have received a favourable response from on the online messages/physical letters. Or sometimes, if they choose, the identified biological family goes on to contact you directly themselves, following my contact.
I always follow best practices to handle sensitive information ethically, including gaining consent from both parties before facilitating any contact.
I will keep you informed of all responses and give you all the correct contact information going forward as the intermediary work progresses.
If you prefer to make all initial contact yourself, I will give you all the contact information for you to take away and do this.
Please note: Biological/Genetic family sometimes react better when the contact is not initially directly from the genetic relative, only because it can soften the shock in cases where the family have no prior knowledge or they have knowledge but didn't expect to be found and the family in their current life know nothing about you. In these cases, intermediary contact can work well to buffer the news and allow time for it to sink in.
